DESCRIPTION:We are so excited to bring back an awesome Outer Banks tradition in the Town of Southern Shores! Show your thanks this Thanksgiving by running as a family in the 16th annual OBX Turkey Trot. Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us! We have pancakes for all participants\, one of a kind raffles\, the first place male and female will take home our amazing Thanksgiving Pies specially made for your thanksgiving meal! Each finisher will also receive a finishers themed medal! \nThe OBX Turkey Trot is a 5K and children’s fun run to support the non-profit organization\, OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run). OBX GO FAR is a non-profit children’s program designed to fight childhood obesity by educating children on healthy habits and positive character traits all while training for a 5K or Fun Run. Your support in our fundraiser event would help us scholarship more children into the program. This year marks our 15th Anniversary of OBX GO FAR and your support has touched the lives of over 10\,000 participants in our program! \nThis is a family fun event\, if you want to know your time wear a watch or make sure you look at the clock at the finish line! Parents are encouraged to come out and run with their children.

DESCRIPTION:The “Miles Cupcake 5k and Fun Run” is named after Shane Miles\, former GO FAR Coach and ultra runner with a true love for people and running! Shane helped coach when the program had just begun on the Outer Banks and continued to volunteer over the years. His passion for running was contagious and inspiring\, his dedication and determination were unwavering. OBX GO FAR is proud to name its Miles College Education Fund in honor of Shane Miles. The proceeds from this event will go to OBX GO FAR a non-profit children’s running program designed to build healthier\, happier children and families. Your registration will help fund the Miles College Education Fund\, provide scholarships for children who cannot meet registration fees in the GO FAR Children’s program as well as help us cover the essential costs of our program. \nYou can create a TEAM with your friends\, family or co-workers and WIN the “Biggest Batch” Cupcake Trophy! This milestone event is all about celebrating community\, fitness and sweet treats that make life a little more fun. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just in it for the cupcakes this event has something for everyone! \nJoin local Dare County GO FAR youth in our Miles Cupcake 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run presented by OBX Go Far on Saturday\, May 2nd beginning at 8 AM! We have a festive start and finish in downtown Manteo with one of a kind custom finisher’s medal and of course cupcakes! Packet Pick-up will take place Friday May 1st\, 2:30p -5:30p\, location TBD; the morning of the race\, beginning at 7:00-7:30 AM. \n8:00 AM 5k Start and 8:05 AM Fun Run start. \nRunners must register by April 10th to guarantee a cupcake tee shirt! \nWhy should you join us?\n\nYour Cupcake Team could win the amazing Cupcake “Biggest Batch” Trophy!\nAwesome post-race party with prizes for top finishers M/F & vendors on the lawn with music to get your boogie on!\nDid we mention CUPCAKES at the finish?!\nEnjoy the scenic route of beautiful downtown Manteo!\nIt’s a supportive atmosphere with coach’s\, friends and family!\nBy running you are supporting our GO FAR mission to encourage youth and their families to get active and make healthy lifestyle choices!\n\nParking will be TBD.
