BE A VOLUNTEER MENTOR

Volunteers are the gold of GO FAR! This program would not exist without the dedication and passion of volunteer mentors. Mentors are with the participants every step of the way throughout the program. The time, effort, and support given by your generosity are what inspire and educate the youth to GO FAR. The opportunity for a healthier living is possible because of you!

We accept participants based on the number of volunteers for each school. Thanks to our awesome volunteers, we are able to brighten the day and the future of the children in our community. Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated.

WHAT WE NEED

  • Volunteers who can fully commit to the program and help lead
  • Volunteers who can help assist on 1 day or both days
  • Volunteers who can help fill in for absent volunteers

WHAT SKILLS YOU NEED

  • A Positive Attitude
  • Responsible & Motivated
  • Comfortable around children
  • Comfortable with walking/jogging
  • Committed to following through

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • We will help prepare you for the program with our online guides, communications, and our Fun Run coordinator and 5K coordinator handbook that lays out each practice and everything you need to know.
  • You will be able to run for free in the end of season race.
  • We do a background check on anyone who is not a state or federal employee.
  • You must attend the orientation or mentor camp (local & brief) to get the materials you need and to get familiar with the program.

BE A VOLUNTEER VENDOR AT AN EVENT

Are you a small or local business owner and are interested in supporting our cause while receiving promotion in return? We have 4 events each year; Turkey Trot 5K and Fun Run, Bunny Hop 5K and Fun Run, and our fall and spring end of season 5K and Fun Run. Each of these events require vendors; food and beverage, music, national anthem singer and the extra flare is always nice too; face-painting, sample running products, and more. We invite you to be a vendor by donating your service or by including us in 25% of your product sales. If this would be of interest to you, please contact us to send an inquiry and an OBX GO FAR representative will notify you for further information and/or arrangements.
